Great Britain: Kings of Wessex. Aethelwulf (839-855) Penny ND (839-c. 843) Chipped NGC (photo-certificate)
Kings of Wessex. Aethelwulf (839-855) Penny ND (839-c. 843) Chipped NGC (photo-certificate), likely Rochester mint, Dunn and moneyer, S-1043 var. (there with different reverse), Naismith-Unl., EMC-2005.0178 (this coin), cf. SCBI XVI-1176. 0.74gm. +EDELYLF REX, portrait facing right / +DYYN MON(ET)A, cross moline within inner circle. A rare piece to say the least, with any example originating from Rochester to be immensely popular and always garnering significant interest. This, coupled with its previously unknown obverse/reverse combination, which is not unusual to Rochester issues when considering their overall scarcity, makes for an incredibly desirable addition to any scholar or advanced collector's cabinet.
